UK-based adhesive surgical sealant film manufacturer Tissuemed has announced that a key patent for the adhesive component of its underlying technology has been accepted for grant in the United States. The patent, relating to Tissuemed’s Tissuebond™ bioadhesive is already granted in Australia, Russia and South Africa. The company pioneered the concept of sealants being deliverable in film form rather than the traditional liquid systems and these films have been gaining acceptance across a variety of disciplines over the four years since launch. The patent covers technology fundamental to its TissuePatch3, TissuePatchDural and TissuePatchThoracic products as well as Obex Neurofilm, sold under a distribution agreement in the Neurosurgical space by Medtronic.
