The European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (EACTS) Annual Meeting will take place in Lisbon, 1-5th October. Celebrating its 25th year, EACTS has become a wider forum than its European origin suggests, with now over 2000 members from over 70 countries. The EACTS meeting follows the familiar format of starting with techno colleges and postgraduate courses followed by the main scientific programme which this year is again tilted towards education in the form of wet labs which take up the entire last day of the meeting. Again all sessions are separated into cardiac, thoracic, congenital and vascular, reflecting the degree of specialisation which has evolved under the cardiothoracic banner over the years.
