ConvaTec announced today that Paul Moraviec has joined the company as President of its Continence and Critical Care Business Unit and ConvaTec EMEA, which includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

ConvaTec, a world-leading developer and marketer of innovative medical technologies for community and hospital care, announced today that Paul Moraviec has joined the company as President of its Continence and Critical Care Business Unit and ConvaTec EMEA, which includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Based in Birkerod, Denmark, Moraviec will have global responsibility for the Continence and Critical Care Business Unit, a new business unit formed following ConvaTec’s integration of Unomedical, a manufacturer of single-use medical devices. Additionally, he will have responsibility for the EMEA region.

Moraviec’s addition completes the new leadership structure at ConvaTec. He joins Michael Steadman, President of Wound Therapeutics, and Nino Pionati, President of Ostomy Care, who recently assumed regional responsibility for ConvaTec USA and ConvaTec Intercontinental, respectively. A fourth business unit, Infusion Devices, is headed by John Lindskog. As President, Moraviec will join the company’s Executive Committee.

“Paul is a proven leader with an outstanding track record of driving growth across a number of medical device specialties, making him the ideal person to leverage the newly combined product portfolio for further penetration into the acute care and home health care settings,” said David Johnson, CEO, ConvaTec. “With Paul’s appointment, we now have the team in place to fully capitalize on the opportunities ahead and lead ConvaTec in achieving our goal of becoming the growth leader in each of our markets and key business areas.”

Prior to joining ConvaTec, Moraviec was Chief Executive Officer of Prosurgics Limited, a surgical robotics company. Prior to this, Moraviec held the position of Vice President, International Commercial Operations for Abbott Laboratories Diabetes Care Division, where he was responsible for transforming the performance of the business to sales of $700M and a strong growth and profitability profile. In addition, Moraviec has held the positions of CEO of IIT Ltd, a UK medical device start-up company and Vice President, International Sales and Marketing for Codman, a Johnson & Johnson medical devices and diagnostics company.
