Industry-Leading Integrated Energy System Works in Concert with da Vinci Surgical Systems
Covidien, a leading global provider of healthcare products and the world leader in advanced energy-based surgical systems, today announced that its ForceTriad™ energy platform is now compatible with the da Vinci Surgical System, da Vinci® S™ Surgical System and da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System.
The ForceTriad energy platform is the one integrated system available today that meets all radiofrequency (RF) energy needs. This state-of-the-art system, used in operating rooms in more than 70 countries across the globe, provides surgeons with controlled energy delivery in a range of RF energy modalities — electrosurgery, dissection and hemostasis.
During minimally invasive robotic surgical procedures, the ForceTriad energy platform now works in concert with Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci Surgical Systems in Cut and Coag mode. The synergistic approach using the ForceTriad energy platform and the da Vinci Surgical Systems brings industry-leading energy-based ligation and hemostasis techniques to the new frontier of robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery.
“We are pleased to inform our customers that the ForceTriad energy platform and the da Vinci Surgical Systems are now compatible,” said Chuck Allen, Director of Global Marketing, Energy-based Devices, Covidien.
Intuitive Surgical’s technology is designed to extend the benefits of minimally invasive surgery to the broadest possible base of patients. Intuitive Surgical’s products provide surgeons with all the clinical and technical capabilities of traditional open surgery, while enabling them to operate through tiny, 1-2 cm incisions with greater precision, vision, dexterity and control.
The compatibility of the da Vinci Surgical Systems and the ForceTriad energy platform is a great fit, according to Allen, and furthers Covidien’s mission to continually provide advanced healthcare solutions for surgeons and their patients worldwide.
