DePuy Synthes Power Tools has announced the global launch of the Anspach® EG1™ High Speed Electric System. With 30% more power than the company’s existing offerings, DePuy is calling EG1 its next-generation drill device.
DePuy Synthes Power Tools is part of DePuy Synthes Companies of Johnson & Johnson, the largest provider of orthopaedic and neurological solutions in the world. Designed for use in neurosurgery, otology and spinal procedures, the company’s Anspach EG1 high speed electric drill features multiple attachments and accessories.
The system includes a high-speed drill with 30 percent more power than the Anspach XMAX® and EMAX® 2 Plus systems. It is designed to be used to cut and shape bone, including the spine and cranium, and has a wide range of quick-coupling attachments, dissection tools and accessories for greater flexibility across procedures.
The Anspach EG1 System features integrated air-cooling, an operating speed of up to 80,000 rpm, minimal start-up kick, and is compatible with automated washing and sterilization.
The announcement was made at the 2014 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting (American Association of Neurological Surgeons) in San Francisco this week.
“We developed the Anspach EG1 System to provide power, precision, operational efficiency and ease of use across a variety of applications that require cutting and shaping bone,” said Ed Mackey, Worldwide President, DePuy Synthes Power Tools. “Our goal is to provide surgeons with tools that perform with precision so that they can achieve the best possible patient outcomes.”
