Last week we covered the latest news from the J&J transvaginal mesh proceedings. At the time, the jury had awarded the plaintiff, a Mrs Linda Gross, a mere $3.35M in damages against the medtech leviathon.
Now it seems they’ve decided J&J needs an even harder slap and have raised the damages to $11M. It seems the problems caused by the product is one thing, but when it comes to the company not adequately informing the plaintiff’s physicians of the risks implicit with this type of device, that’s a more serious matter.
J&J has said it will appeal the decision and it will be hoping for a hefty reduction, because it is expecting a queue of 4000 plaintiffs to be knocking at its door any day.
