Heart Blog Rather Sums It All Up

We’ve been covering Riata and Riata ST ICD lead problems fairly extensively, but this item from US cardiac electrophysiologist John Mandrola summarises the state of play rather well without the need for comment from ourselves.

The item is posted on theheart.org and can be found here.

Despite being a cardiac practitioner and therefore at the sharp end when it comes to dealing with this massive problem, if you jump to the end of his piece you’ll see that the author is far from wanting to crush technological advances in the quest for patient safety. He’s no advocate of excessive premarket regulation and ends by saying; “To slow innovation would truly be a setback for our patients.”
