UK orthopaedic company Osteotec has received U.S. FDA clearance to market its silicone finger implant range in the USA.
Background
The silicone finger is Osteotec’s own design and comes in a range of eleven, evenly scaled sizes to ensure a precise fit in different patient anatomies.
The implant is manufactured from high tear resistant implant grade silicone and features a dorsal load transferring hinge design.
Based in Christchurch, Dorset, UK, Osteotec distributes implants in the UK from such luminary companies as Integra (Pyrocarbon PIP & MCP finger implants and total wrist replacement system) in addition to which it employs its own R&D department, the source of its own silicone finger implant range. The company says it will now embark on the establishment of a US distribution network for its newly cleared implant.
