Last September we reported on how Irish company X-Bolt had been granted CE mark status for its novel expanding bolt device which optimises fixation in osteoporotic hip fractures.
The company has now been shortlisted in the R&D category of the Irish Times Innovation Awards.
The technology, aimed at IM nailing and dynamic plating of what are among the most challenging fractures for clinicians, looks very promising, and while these awards may not be The Oscars, it certainly does no harm to up-and-coming technology companies like X-Bolt to gain the publicity such a nomination affords.
