Zimmer Starts Distribution Of APEX Spine System

Zimmer Spine, Inc. has begun distributing its APEX Spine System, a comprehensive set of implants and instruments designed to safely and effectively correct a broad range of spinal deformities, as well as complex and degenerative spinal diseases. Under the terms of a long-term agreement with SpineCraft (Westmont, IL), Zimmer Spine will exclusively market the APEX Spine System to healthcare organizations across the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Zimmer Acquires Extremity Device Company

Zimmer Holdings, Inc. has acquired NORMED Medizin-Technik GmbH, of Tuttlingen, Germany-based a provider of innovative technologies for the foot and ankle, hand and wrist reconstruction and trauma markets. NORMED’s range extends to specialized plates, screws and instruments, including systems for bone reconstruction and fracture repair, fusion procedures and external fixation.

Zimmer Holdings, Inc. has reported financial results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2012 showing a modest year on year increase of 2.1% on a constant currency basis. Full-year net sales were $4.47 billion, an increase of 0.4% reported and 2.3% constant currency over the prior year.

Zimmer Launches Smartphone Comeback App Globally

Zimmer Holdings, Inc., has launched a new app for smartphones that is now available globally. The application, Zimmer Comeback, uses the GPS in a user’s smartphone to record time and distance while walking or running. Zimmer will donate one dollar to the Arthritis Foundation for every mile users walk or run.
