ConvaTec has followed up its May announcement of the acquisition of AbViser Medical, LLC with the news that its ostomy systems range is to expand with the acquisition of UK company Trio Healthcare International Ltd.

ConvaTec’s business comprises the four key focus areas of Ostomy Care, Wound Therapeutics, Continence and Critical Care and Infusion Devices. In early May the company announced the acquisition of AbViser Medical, a Salt Lake City-based specialist in critical care products including Intra-abdominal Pressure (IAP) Monitoring System, which enables clinicians to measure and monitor IAP in patients at risk for intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) or abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS). The system comprises is a sterile, non-invasive disposable monitoring device that enable safe, efficient, standardised monitoring with proven clinical accuracy. Measurements are obtained in approximately 30 seconds, this easily obtained data allowing clinicians to trend the pressures and intervene in a timely fashion, thereby preventing the end stage organ dysfunction seen with abdominal compartment syndrome.
ConvaTec’s newly announced acquisition of Trio Healthcare Ltd., will enhance the company’s ostomy care portfolio, Trio’s range including Niltac™ sting-free medical adhesive remover and Silesse™ sting-free skin barrier, both featuring the company’s advanced silicone technologies, and Diamonds™ Gelling Sachets with ActiveOne™ odor control.
