MediPurpose(r), a master distributor and manufacturer of medical products, has announced the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) has awarded a multiple-year renewal of the current contract to continue providing MediPurpose safety medical products to its U.K. healthcare customers through Smiths Medical, Inc. (SMI).
The renewal also expanded the product offering made available through the NHS by the addition of the MediPurpose babyLance(r) heel incision device.
“We are honored that NHS continues to validate the quality and value of our medical products,” said MediPurpose President and CSO Randy Prather. “Our relationship with NHS has been essential for establishing SurgiLance as a top safety lancet in the U.K., and we look forward to enjoying similar results with babyLance in the U.K.”
“The 510(k) clearances favorably position our safety blood collection devices for U.K. healthcare professionals who are being cautioned about multiple-use lancing devices”
Both SurgiLance and babyLance are single-use blood collection devices. They both have also received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearances to be marketed as safety medical products in the United States. Furthermore, babyLance is the first infant heel incision device to receive 510(k) clearance with sharps prevention indications.
“The 510(k) clearances favorably position our safety blood collection devices for U.K. healthcare professionals who are being cautioned about multiple-use lancing devices,” said Prather.
SurgiLance is currently available in six models, ranging from 18-26 gauge and 1.0-2.3 mm penetration depth. babyLance is current available in two models that deliver penetration depths of 0.85 mm and 1.0 mm.
