US shoulder device company Shoulder Options Inc., is launching its AFT™ Proximal Humerus Fracture Plate. The new plate is intended for the treatment of fractures and fracture dislocations, osteotomies, and non-unions of the proximal humerus.
Shoulder Options, in partnership with Kapstone Medical LLC, is a team of surgeons and engineers, committed to patient care through quality and innovation. The company’s mission is to improve patient quality of life through the creation of state-of-the-art treatment options for conditions affecting the shoulder.
The AFT™ Proximal Humerus Fracture Plate is an innovative fracture plating technology that builds upon the fundamentals of the company’s Cuff Repair Plate (CRP™) by being anatomically shaped and by providing the surgeon multiple suture tying points. AFT™, or short for “Anatomic Fixation Technology”, is distinguished by incorporating 20 degrees of retroversion between the head and the shaft, thereby facilitating restoration of normal anatomy during fracture repair. The design is optimized to enhance the surgeon’s ability to utilise sutures for tuberosity management and fixation augmentation of the bony repair. Sutures may be placed through the plate before or after the plate has been secured to the bone.
Shoulder options is also announcing the launch of its new website, which can be found here.
“It is gratifying to see the culmination of our team’s efforts. We have been fortunate to work with some of the top shoulder specialists in the country on this product” says John Kapitan, CEO of Shoulder Options. “The release of the AFT™ Fracture Plate gives surgeons a new option for patient care. Its unique design addresses some key issues for humeral fracture reconstruction that have previously been unavailable in the marketplace.”
