Here’s something of a first: On Thursday October 23rd, digital medical broadcasting company BroadcastMed, Inc. will present the first ever LIVE surgical webcast on Same Day Surgery featuring Smith & Nephew’s VISIONAIRE™ Cutting Guides and the JOURNEY II Total Knee System.
Background
Smith & Nephew’s VISIONAIRE™ Cutting Guides utilize a patient’s own MRI and X-Ray to create custom cutting guides that simplify surgery by reducing instrumentation and surgical steps. The way it all fits together is that a dedicated engineer collaborates with each surgeon to optimse implant sizing, alignment, and design cutting guides specific for each patient creating a personalized experience.
Smith & Nephew says the JOURNEY II Knee delivers solutions beyond the traditional knee replacement providing Function, Motion and Durability through what it terms “PHYSIOLOGICAL MATCHING” Technology.
Orthopedic surgeons Kenneth L. Cherry, MD and Christopher S. McClellan, DO, of the University Orthopedics Center in State College, PA, will perform the procedure at the Advanced Center for Surgery in Altoona, PA. Dr. Cherry and Dr. McClellan have successfully performed over 200 total joint procedures in an outpatient setting utilizing VISIONAIRE™ Cutting Guides and the JOURNEY II Total Knee System.
The audience will experience the entire process from understanding patient selection, pre-operative protocol, surgery, patient discharge, and post-operative care.
The webcast will be broadcast LIVE on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM EDT and 10:00 PM EDT. Viewers are encouraged to submit questions, which the surgeons will answer LIVE during the procedure.
