Externalised Defibrillator Leads: State Of Play

Nice piece updating us on the Riata/Sprint Fidelis ICD lead situation.

It’s not a new story, but it’s certainly not over yet. The saga of faulty defibrillator leads from St Jude and Medtronic, which have been the subject of alert, withdrawal, recall and now the question of “explant” rumbles on. In an article on theheart.org, written by John Mandrola, who has himself already been referenced this week, the issues are laid bare… if we can say that.

The piece can be found here and if you’re a cardiologist looking for an honest assessment of the state of play you could do worse than to read it.
