A couple of weeks ago we sat through an hour and a half of parliamentary select committee questioning of representatives from the patient end of the debate. Today’s meeting sees industry and its regulators “in the dock”, so to speak, as they too get to explain their various positions on the subject. Eminent speakers include the boss of the MHRA as well as the boss of ABHI, the healthcare industry’s representative body. In the red corner will be Jacqueline Minor, representing consumer affairs at European Commission level.
Expect a lively exchange of views as the participants try to squeeze the pips out of the current regulatory set-up… the pun is entirely intended by the way, as the infamous incident now seems to be at the heart of any discussion about our regulatory regime’s future shape.
