Last October we reported on European medical devices industry body Eucomed’s plans to introduce a conference vetting programme. In essence the intention was to provide guidance regarding whether a particular conference was deemed by Eucomed to be in compliance with its guidelines. As such it would provide a filter for Eucomed members as they decide which exhibitions and conferences to attend.
Under the new initiative Eucomed members will actually be prohibited from directly sponsoring or supporting doctors’ attendance at any conference that received a negative assessment.
Now Eucomed has provided an update in the form of a statement, which summarises work done so far and highlights a few key measures. Of note is the timetable, which will see the proposals enacted within a month from now and piloted for a 6 month period thereafter.
The statement can be found here.
