DePuy Mitek Says New Healix Advance™ Rotator Cuff Anchors Tick All The Boxes

Orthopaedic and Sports Med company DePuy Mitek, Inc., has announced the launch of the Healix Advance™ Family of Suture Anchors, a comprehensive new system of rotator cuff anchor and instrumentation solutions. The company says its new anchor design will enable faster insertion into hard bone and maximise fixation and pull-out strength.

Study Says Inflow/Outflow Arthroscopy Pump Saves Money

The big surprise in this new study, published at AANA this week, is that it’s taken so long for researchers to put a figure on the cost savings to be had in saline consumption alone by using an inflow/outflow computer controlled arthroscopic pump rather than inflow only. Maybe its just a sign of the times that it’s even become an issue.

You’d have thought ligament fixation device design had been done to death, but marginal benefits still count in what is a sizeable market, so Smith & Nephew’s new “open architecture” anchor should find customers. After twenty years of anchors, quite what a shoulder surgeon might be so dissatisfied with that this new device addresses is beyond us, but it looks a smart enough idea.
